ottawa: part 1
I shot a few rolls of colour when I was in Ottawa over the holidays.
Here are scans from my walk through Stoney Swamp. It was one of my favourite places when I was younger and it felt great to feed the birds, see the deer, and appreciate how beautiful it was again with my parents.

quick shot: kayla y
This is a shot of my good friend Kayla. I just received some glass for my 4x5, so I thought I'd test it out. I will be shooting a lot more on the 4x5, so stay tuned for a bunch of portraits.

BC part 1.5
It's definitely a fun concept to play around with; I've always been a fan of the subtle.
I also thought I'd share a more traditional gif for fun showing what my shoes had to endure throughout the trip.
Unfortunately part 3 will have to wait until the new year... but I'm already in the process of writing some posts for the upcoming weeks, so keep checking back.

BC part I
I was lucky enough to work on set in BC with Nikki Ormerod a week or two ago.
Here's part one: my solo trip through Stanley Park in the beautiful Vancouver. We had some time off while we waited for the tsunami warnings to clear at our next location, so I took some time to myself and walked through the forest.
I also shot a few frames of myself using some logs and sticks as a makeshift tripod to show some scale.
BC part II and III coming soon.

quick snap: nikki o
After the shoot was done, the location was a little too nice to pass up, so I took some quick shots of her in the setting sun.

tom nesbitt and CX
Meet Tom Nesbitt. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Tom in real life, he's the incredibly talented producer for Chris Gordaneer. He also has a vast knowledge of bikes, and has helped me out on countless occasions as I needed to upgrade or fix my own ride.
He invited me out to one of his cyclocross races, and so I decided to shoot some apres race portraits. I don't even know how he could stand, seeing as the course was over an hour long and involved going up and down a ski hill, jumping over obstacles and sprinting past other cyclists...
...there were injuries...
...and a fellow morning glory teammate Kevin Higgins going ridiculously fast.
I've also included some extra snaps for some context about how epic this sport is.

quick snap: peter
I had some free time yesterday, so I decided to bike around with Peter Olson. He's a fellow assistant/photographer, and he allowed me to quickly photograph him with my 4x5.
I also rode around with a small film cam loaded with some colour neg. It was a beautiful day with some great light.
and some "bts" now...
I mounted the small 35mm to my bike for fun.
I'm trying to decide if this was quick thinking, or lazy thinking. Here's a shot by Peter of me using my bike, a super clamp, and a tripod head as a tripod for the 4x5.

This is Jason. He was an MVP at Ottawa U, is wearing gear from when he used to live in Japan, and is a very nice guy.
He's also the first in a bunch of creatives that will be showing up on the blog soon. Keep checking back.

the deadly nightshades
Meet the Toronto members of The Deadly Nightshades. They are an all girl midnight bike gang and design collective. They do all sorts of awesome stuff in the bike community, including a new film for the Toronto VeloReel. I was lucky enough to get asked to light/shoot one of their motion ideas. I snapped some quick portraits as well.
Here are a few key moments from the motion as a taste of what went down...
