BMW ART AUCTION

I was commissioned by BMW and Cundari to shoot a series of images for Contact using a BMW 4 series coupé with the specific theme described below.   I decided to go away from the literal interpretation of "reflection" and created a series that uses the shadows and highlights created by the car's unique shape to combine with interesting cityscapes.

"The relationship BMW has with the urban setting is always evolving. With this in mind, BMW invited four talented Canadian photographers, in collaboration with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, to highlight BMW’s connection to the city. Each photographer was challenged to utilize the new BMW 4 Series Coupé in order to capture how BMW is reflected across the urban landscape.
The result is a collection of nine unique and stunning perspectives on place and time – of light and structure.
The added dimension of the BMW 4 Series Coupé confidently radiates a fascinating athletic presence as a unifying element in this year’s BMW Art Auction collection.

The art:

Within the various Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges across Canada, we have hung a collection of premium limited-edition art prints that are available to bid on. Each gorgeous print is mounted and framed in a 42″ x 32″ black lacquered frame.

How it works:

Each piece, regardless of its location, is available to be bid on and won from anywhere in Canada. The minimum bid for each piece is $250. Once the auction closes, the individual with the highest bid will be notified and then shipped the complete art piece, including the frame. All proceeds raised from the winning bids will be donated to the Air Canada Foundation, and all winning bidders will receive a tax receipt for their donation. The BMW Art Auction closes at 12:00 p.m. (noon) EST, October 1st, 2014. If you have any questions or require assistance placing your bid, please e-mail BMW_art_auction@bmw.ca."

it's a jeep thing

I brought some older work back to life over the weekend and thought I'd share.  I've always been a fan of the rough and ready nature of a Jeep.  There's something nice about not being restricted to roads.  ADVENTURE!!

It's definitely a jeep thing.

Here's my super good buddy Scott with his jeep as well.  It brought back a ton of nostalgia looking through these photos; a seriously fun weekend.

one bad spy

I was approached by the awesome rental studio Isis Studio to plan a shoot that would showcase their new studio space.  I've always loved the idea of a highly trained but horrible spy, so I decided to shoot a series of moments highlighting how bad this spy really is.  To see the whole series, definitely visit the site at:

Gabriel Filippi for Sportsnet Magazine

I was commissioned by Sportsnet Magazine to head down to Montreal and photograph one of the most badass people I've ever met, Gabriel Filippi.  He has climbed some of the highest peaks in the world (including Everest, Kilimanjaro, and McKinley - amongst others) and his story in this issue is a must read.

"During 18 years of scaling the highest peaks int he world, Gabriel Filippi cheated death countless times.  Then he found himself on a mountain targeted by the Taliban."
